Idk I think feminism should be called something different like common sense or something
honestly, I’ve never liked statements like these, because they eliminate the possibility for discussion. It essentially repeats the old saying “You’re either a feminist, or a bigot. there is not in between.” And I don’t believe that. All movements have good points, and bad points, no matter what we choose to believe. Even fascism is based around the idea of retaining your own personal culture, which is a reasonable demand.
feminism isn’t perfect. There are plenty of flaws. As such, it isn’t as simple as saying “it’s common sense” It’s as simple as discussing it and deciding what parts of it make it better or worse. I can point out quite a few flaws in feminism. Does that make feminism inherently wrong? no. But it certainly means I have a right to say I’m not a feminist.
By the dictionary definition? Sure, I want equal rights between the sexes. Do I support the actual ideology built around it, the crimes committed for and against it, and the rest of that jazz? Maybe, maybe not. but do not dare guilt me by saying I cannot see the “common sense” of your belief, not mine.
…phew rant over. Sorry.
